Solar Casita II

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Solar Casitas are a group of three houses built on a single piece of property in the foothills above Santa Fe. Each home is sensitively sited in relation to its immediate environment while understanding its contribution to the whole. The houses were built using the classic hogan construction techniques of adobe and vigas.

They incorporate passive solar design including trombe walls, thermal mass, and south-facing glass. All demonstrate careful spatial planning to create compact, inexpensive, beautiful and comfortable homes in less than 1,000 square feet.
