YM Residence

Nicasio, California

This 2,000 sq. ft. passive solar residence overlooks the Nicasio Valley in Marin County, California. Along with a large living area with views of the valley below, there are other structures on the property which allow for solace and self-expression. Designed as a composition of small buildings, the site plan invites the residents to interact with their surroundings.

The main house incorporates structural insulated panels as the roof and wall systems. The panels perform a triple function by reducing the amount of virgin wood products, dramatically reducing the erection time of the building envelope, and reducing the need for heating.
