Chinook Learning Center

Clinton, Washington - 1987

The education center sits on the ridge above the farmhouse.  It is designed as a low unobtrusive building placed on the edge of the forest.  It is oriented so that its extensive deck areas have excellent island views.  The building contains two seminar rooms each connected to a central storage and audiovisual area.  Both open onto a break area with a snack counter.  The large seminar room also opens onto decks areas which are designed with amphitheater seating for good weather outdoor meetings.  Bathrooms, phone space, and offices for educational staff complete the building.  The building form and construction are in the simple vernacular residential scale style of the Northwest.
