Birkenstock Headquarters Renovations

Novato, California - 2003

Window upgrades, bathroom renovations, lighting upgrades and a new training center improve energy efficiency and water conservation at Birkenstock’s North American headquarters.

Resource conserving strategies implemented include: low-e glazing on windows, insulated panels for increased thermal performance, new trellises with shade-giving growth, low flush toilets, waterless urinals, no VOC interior paint, durable recycled glass ceramic tiles, recycled plastic bathroom partitions, and reuse of existing fixtures where appropriate.

In addition to saving valuable resources, the renovations save the company approximately $13,250 in annual energy costs and qualifies them for the Pacific Gas and Electric Savings by Design rebate program.
