Benziger Winery

Benziger Family Winery retained Van der Ryn Architects to develop a site plan for their signature site on Highway 12. We designed an organic form biological treatment pond to process wine-making waste and a story garden telling the cultural and ecological story of wine.

The illustration is the result of a spirited charette with Mike Benziger and Sim Van der Ryn (and several special bottles from Mike’s personal cellar).

The ponds are built.  The garden - after the 9/11 slowdown - has yet to be constructed.
